Any of u ever heard of bad bounces that happen when a grass pitch gets worn out after 2 weeks of intensive playing on it? If u saw today's finals, there were a few second serve aces achieved due to bad/unexpected bounces of the ball. I'm pretty sure that's what happened here.

Mardy Fish has a record serve speed of 144 miles per hour. She had 80 feet to react. Compare this to major league baseball where pitchers can pitch upwards of 100 miles per hour, and the batters have 60.5 feet to react.

If a batter can, in that period of time, determine if a pitch is a ball or a strike, determine whether or not to swing or not, and then make contact with the baseball in the latter scenario, the lineswoman could have reacted and moved in such a way as to protect her eye.

Really, she was just caught not paying much attention. That's all.

She did move, just not fast enough, which is to be expected since she didn't even had a second after the ball ricochet of the ground.

You have plenty of time to move 5in to left/right from a ball coming at you 175-200km/h from the guy serving at the other side of the court. The point is she didn't really even attempt to move and just took the hit and she's supposed to be watching the ball.
