Euro 2012 Kicks Off

It's the most played game in the world, if you discount having a wank as a game and it's European Championships have just kicked off in Poland and the Ukraine. I'm talking about football of course (and 1, 2, 3 let it rip with the euro trash comments...).

The opening game was between Poland and Greece and although the two teams might have played a boring game it was anything but. Two red cards and two goals made this a decent start.

Next up were Russia and the Czech Republic and if the latter hadn't turned up Russia would have scored fewer goals against them. In the end the Russians won very comfortably by 4 goals to 1.

Day two gave us two games from the Group Of Death. Germany, Portugal, Holland and Denmark we're all playing for those two top spots that guaranteed a knock out game. Holland versus Denmark was what is was, Holland dominating most of the game, having had 28 goal attempts, but scoring none. Murphy's Law than dictates that the Danes will only need one goals attempt to score and they did. Holland now need to beat archrivals Germany on Wednesday to stand a chance of progressing from the group.

Later that evening Germany took on Portugal and much was expected of both teams and both failed to deliver., It was a very closed game with especially the Portuguese playing very defensively. In the end the Germans won thanks to a brilliant header by Gomez.
