Guy Shot Outside Of Fast Food Restaurant

After people were running out side of the Carls Jr. a man holding what looked like to be a metal pipe bender was walking very slowly and calmly toward the side of Carls Jr. very nonchalantly smashing in the windows with his weapon, he then walked into the fast food restaurant. while the suspect was inside the police arrived and set up to the right of the enterance. The rest is plain and simple in the video.

We are commenting on excessive policing and general lack of human rights in the "land of the free" and you are onto China and the fact that you could blow them up. What has China got to do with this? BY your answer i believe you are saying that yes, the USA is a bastard at times and the police are too aggressive but we are not close to China. Is this meant to be impressive? Do China claim to be the land of the free? America is also in so deep in debt to China that you pay in interest to them more than their annual military budget. But i am sure you know this. And your nations craving for cheap goods has, more than anything else, made China into the economic powerhouse it is today. So in a way you could argue that America has created the monster. However, i am not Australian, fine country though it is. But would like to point out this. That the USA is not the only country that has the ability to destroy any country it wants. You are not the worlds policeman. And soon, you will not even be the most powerful country in the world.

Cops put their ass on the line, because that is part of the job description, and if you start going over "take minimal risk" you'll come to the conclusion - we should shoot anyone who opposes or disobeys a cop, because hey - the next thing you know that person could reach for a weapon, detonate a bomb or swing a pipe bender at you.

About bringing a pipe bender to a gun fight, it was my own poor attempt at sarcasm, i was trying to illustrate, how stupid the guy was for even thinking that he had an expectation of surviving an altercation with a cop with a gun pointed at him.

Also about pipe benders as a weapon, They are most are made of steel, weight about 5.5 kg and have blunted corners. They are sort of like a pick ax. I have been on construction sites and have seen the damage they can do when used improperly. A person's skull or any other body part, would not survive the encounter.

I am not a cop, however i have friends that are cops and I have heard many stories about how fucked up some of the situations they go into. They see murders, rapes and other evils that humans do to each other. This type of day in and day out crap has an effect a person's brain. My good friend had to show up at a murder scene, where a 60+ year old grandmother tossed her 6 month old grand daughter off a parking garage walk way. He is still upset about it. Here is another one that happened right down the street from me several years ago and it still fucks with me to this day because we all knew the guy and his daughter. He seemed like a decent guy, educated, very religious, made a really good income. This girl was an Arab, not to be racist but it helps explain it. She was dating a white kid. Dad didn't approve. So when summer time came around he made up a story that his daughter was going to Saudi Arabia for the summer. What he did, was chain her in his basement for 4 months, until she was at death's door and the mom finally panicked and called for an ambulance, and she was rescued. She almost lost her leg because of gangrene caused by the metal shackle. I keep asking myself, why didn't i hear her yelling or her screams? i should have heard them because i would walk my dog past his house every couple of days. Now i avoid the place, too many bad memories of my own failure of not picking up on what was happening. i keep kicking myself about it, thinking i should have picked up on their changes in behavior and why they weren't outside as much, but then i realize no body else did either. I live in a very upper-middle class neighborhood with a very low crime rate, and this type of evil even happens here. That being said, you have to cut the cops a little slack, they see shit daily that would fuck us all up and they have to commit it to memory and relive it over and over during the write ups and investigations and again during the trial. This goes on for months and they cannot escape it and it runs through their minds constantly. We have all seen the roadside stop videos where the cop walks up to the car and the cop gets shot. We are all saying OMG! Well they have to do that everyday. So when a cop comes up to you, remember he or she has no idea who you are, or what you may or may not do, and they are just as worried about you as you are about them. And if they have a choice between you or their friend's life, or their own life, you will always lose.

Sorry about the long posts but i felt everyone should see it from the cop's point of view. It is easy to second guess something when we have nothing to lose and from the comfort of our own homes.

Also know this, in America, we are allowed to have guns, a simple background/mental health check and you can have one in minutes depending on what you are buying. Every police officer assumes you are armed with a gun. In Portugal, guns are tightly controlled, and to own a gun, you have to have a proven need to own one. That is not the case in the US. So generally, most Portuguese do not have access to guns, and without guns, there is generally less risk for Portuguese police officers. So for cops in America, it is best to assume everyone has one, than risk your partner's or your own life.

Second of all, if you watch the video, first they tasered him, that had no effect. he just pulled it off. Did you not hear the oooo right in the face!? that was first use of non lethal force. But he just kept walking. Second he was surrounded by gun wielding officers, the second show of non-lethal force. If you are an assailant armed with anything less than a gun you lose. He had to have been drunk or high. Or my first thought was correct, that he wanted to commit suicide by cop. Why they didn't release the dog, i don't know, but i suspect the one cop was too close for the other to take his eyes off the assailant to let the dog go. Why did they empty their guns? Look up contagious or synchronous fire, they are just theories, but is helps explain the phenomenon.

Third, he tried to attack an officer with a deadly weapon. Sorry, if you were attacking any of my friends expect the same treatment from me. I can hear it now, "Sorry about your Dad dying Johnny, but i still wasn't finished using all my non-lethal force equipment, and i wanted to make sure i didn't to show too much force." "But you will be glad to hear the guy that killed him is getting three hots and a cot in prison and will be out in five years!"

Now let's look at the shooting, Tell me how the officer would have hit the guy in the arm/hand and disarmed him, when his arms were at his chest, Sorry that wouldn't be possible, even if they did try to wing him, the bullet would pass through is arm and hit him in the chest and he would still die. So your point about that is null and void.

Now lets look at your leg theory, a police officer, (or anyone else) officer is responsible for their bullets going down range, if you missed and killed/injured someone else, it is their fault! Shooting at, and missing a leg, and hitting the pavement would guarantee a ricochet. (remember the guy in the SOX hoodie that was behind the guy with the pipe bender? or the guy in the red shirt that ran past him? Where were they at the time?) They and potentially, other bystanders were behind the guy and in the potential path of the bullet or ricochet. So that may explain why they were so close to him. Also shooting the leg wouldn't necessarily disable him, the leg is mostly muscle only hitting the bone would most likely guarantee a disabling shot. And with the human femur, being roughly 1 inch thick you would have to ask yourself, can you hit that at 2 meters while its moving? Also he would still be able to swing the pipe bender, Oh ya! the pipe bender! Or he could of said " Ow! my leg!, F-CK THIS, i am whipping out my M-F-ing Glock and pop some caps in their asses!" "Or F-k it! I am setting off the bomb in my backpack and taking us all out!" Remember in the US we still have guns! I think if he had a gun, it can shoot farther than 2 meters. but since, i miss used my terminology calling a magazine a clip, (i am really sorry!) i had to turn in my rifle and pistol expert badges, and have to forfeit all my hunting, gun training, knowledge, and experience because i used the wrong term. My excuse though, is i mainly hunt with a old rifle, which uses a clip.

More about a leg shot. Shooting at a leg at such a close range would mean taking your eyes of the threat. Remember they were within reach if the pipe bender? Oh i remember! The guy could have still hit and killed the one cop or both. The pipe bender is 38 inches to 4 ft long and the average arm is about 2 ft., while that isn't the full 2 meters, at 2 meters would you take the chance of him not hitting you? So not only would your partner be dead, you could be too.

Now for the closing, Every gun/self defense course when it deals with the potential of shooting an assailant, you are ALWAYS taught to shoot at the center of mass. It is the easiest and largest target. Never arms or legs. Arms legs and heads, are small and they move and won't disable an armed attacker! The torso does not move as fast and provides a much larger target. If you ever watch the NFL, those guys go for the numbers, (i.e center mass) except for last ditch efforts, they never intentionally go for the legs or arms to tackle someone. Center mass, is roughly the size of a sheet of paper centered over the heart. This inflicts the maximum amount of damage and will stop the attack. (Remember my previous post about cavatation? i.e why the exit hole is much larger than the entry hole?) Shooting an arm or leg, still leaves a wounded individual 3 other methods for attack or escape. It was a unfortunate but a clean shooting.

I'am not saying the victim isn't responsible for what he got. It's pretty stupid to act this way and I don't mind he died (although his dead will cost the state quite some money). But in the Netherlands you are not allowed to use such extreme measures when mild measures can be taken easily (shooting in the leg, using your trained skills to disarm someone, let your dog eat the suspects balls etc. etc.). This policeman fired immediately. Such frightened, scared and disqualified policeman wouldn't be in the force in the first place, but if they where they would have been arrested and put to jail. This guy is pathetic.

Are you seriously defending this video by comparing it to the jerusalem shootout, and claiming that two trained police officers would have trouble, at that distance hitting the guys limbs, while each officer fired 5 shots?
I mean it would be reasonable to think that those cops are idiots judging on how the cop with the dog holds his gun, but seriously?

it's not that I see how one should approach cops aiming a gun at you, with a pipe bender, but how can you claim this is an appropriate use of force?

Posted by Me on 2012-01-25 06:20:56 I can see your concern but, obviously you have never been taught how to shoot, if you had been, you would of learned how difficult it is to hit someone's head, leg or arm. Heads and Limbs are very small and they move faster than the torso. You always aim at the center of the mass. Also there are a couple of other things, aiming downward can cause a ricochet, and hit a bystander, your partner or even come back at you. Hitting a limb, leaves three more limbs they can attack you with. Lets say head shot him in the leg, or a arm, the attacker can still pull a gun out. If you hit him in the chest, because of the body's violent reaction to the bullet, there is a good chance he won't be doing anything even if he survives it. There is a lot more happening than just a hole being made, it is called cavitation, it is a huge temporary air gap created from the force of impact.

Posted by Kim Dotcom on 2012-01-25 02:11:45 Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a man in the parking lot of a Monterey Park Carl's Jr. yesterday morning, and witnesses caught it on video. According to the New York Daily News, the man, who was wearing a dark hoodie, was breaking windows inside the restaurant. The video shows him coming out into the parking lot carrying what looks like a shovel or large hammer. The cops appear to taser him, which has no effect. When he seems to rear up to swing the object in his hand, the two officers fire off ten shots.
